"Desenhar carra de uma pessoa"

Today at Ingrid Chawner is an art day which I am in charge of organising! Yesterday I felt was a bad day because there feel like there is a lot of change happening but I've put it to one side, "shook it off" and started a fresh day.

I decided that today we would use all sorts of bits and bobs that I had bought and had lying around my room to design faces. I instructed the children to draw a face and then stick anything they could find onto it. I think they have done a fantastic job.....take a look as the results are HOT off the press......

Ahhh....yes, I think I was also going to mention something about the rioting in London but I think you've heard enough about that. I did write an email to Vanessa Feltz on BBC London Radio trying to voice my opinion but sadly they didnt read it out on the radio....*tear drop*....oh and here it is....:

Hi Vanessa,

Ive been living in Mozambique for the last 6 months as a 28 year old, black, female from London volunteering for 1 year. I have been keeping up to date with the rioting on line and from family and friends. I have been soooooo shocked with the situation. I dont know what to say about the young people involved in this rioting over the last week but what I do think is that national service should come back or volunteering service should be introduced like the young people have in German. If some of these young people came and lived and worked in the environments that I have been experiences in the Africa then I think there view point on 'how tuff' life really is in UK might be different.

Im working with street children who have shocking backgrounds and who have nothing. Their families have nothing but they are not going around complaining to the government that they have nothing to do or nowhere to go. I have a young boy whose Mum is a mother of 5 and she lives in a house the size of a shed. She has no money to feed her children BUT she goes out to the city every day to sell a basin of grapes which would probably give her about £4 for the day. She isnt running the streets of Mozambique robbing everyone so she can feed her children!

The problems are entrenched in a 'I want everything for nothing culture' in what people call Western culture. Why do the young people feel like they have to be mothered all the way through there young life....I hear there are services being cut and young people dont have lots of things do do but if they think by rioting and looting that people are going to have respect for them and want to invest in their futures then they really need to think again.

Thanks

Kamilah
